THE TOWN

Kostanjevica na Krki lies where the lowland of »Krakovski« forest ascends into mountainous green hills named Gorjanci.

This is the only and the smallest Slovenian town on an island also called the Venice on »Dolenjska« (Lower Carniola).

Kostanjevica was already mentioned in year 1252, however it was Carinthian duke named Bernard Spanheim who contributed to its prosperity.

RESTAURANT

The restaurant Žolnir combines all the things, which define excellent restaurants: domestical and international cuisine as well as a large variety of different wines.

The restaurant can receive up to 250 guests for any kind of occasion (excursions, family celebrations, business lunches, weddings, etc.).

We also offer accommodation for the night, which consist of 12 double rooms.

THE SIGHTSEEING

Surrounded by masterpieces such as statuary symposium Forma Viva is the gallery of Božidar Jakec, which is situated in previous Cistercian monastery.

The Gorjup gallery situated in elementary school also consists of many quality pieces of fine atrs.

For the admirers of karsts phenomenon it is recommended to visit the famous Kostanjevica cave.

RELAXATION

Dolenjska (Lower Carniola) region containing the river Krka, vineyards and country wine route invites fishermen, hunters, hikers and admirers of rear birds to visit its immense beauty.

There is an 8 kilometres long path, called the Ressel path for those who want to discover the »Krakovski« forest. The path begins by the restaurant Žolnir connecting with the Trstenik swamp, natural reserve and flooded pastureland near the river Krka.

For recreation one can make use of the wide surrounded cycling paths, also meant for more experienced cyclists.

VINEYARD COTTAGE ZAVODE

Those who prefer more homely environment can be treated in the renovated vineyard cottage in Zavode. There our offer consists of traditional domesticated dishes and many kinds of home made wines to taste.

Favourite and the most popular wine is Cviček, which is becoming more and more appreciated quality wine in our region. It is like a mother, dearly beloved and irreplaceable to the local people and it sure will convince you too.
