Our traditional built Dubrovnik stone house has been built at the beginning of the 19th century. It is located in a very nice area in the immediate vicinity of the historical City of Dubrovnik. A pleasant 5 minutes walk will take you to Old Town Dubrovnik, where most cultural and other happenings are organized, not to mention the numerous museums, exhibitions, monuments, restaurants, cafe bars and other interesting things you might enjoy.

Our family has owned the house for several generations. All spaces are completely renovated and well designed, overlooking the sea, Fort Lovrijenac and parts of the Old City. There are two specious terraces and gardens with Mediterranean flowers and plants that our guests can use for relaxation. Near by are the Inter university Center and International Center of Croatian University. Our house is accessed by steps from the Old Town, making it therefore not very suitable for persons with walking difficulties or with very young children.

You should stay here!
By Serena_CA (California, United States), August 2010
We just returned from 5 days in Croatia. We were based in Dubrovnik and enjoyed staying at the Benussi Apartments. I arranged for the apartment with 3 beds, a kitchen, and bath. It was clean, modern, fresh and extremely comfortable. The apartment is located just outside of the old city Pile gate, right behind the Hilton Hotel. Really-just outside, only about a 5 minute easy walk. The apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood and outside the bustle and loudness and crowds of the old city. There are stairs but there are stairs everywhere and it is a doable walk.
Jadranka was a marvelous hostess who kept us up to date before and during our booking. She met us with a smile, helped with luggage, showed us how to work the tv, air conditioner etc. She recommended fabulous local restaurants, what fruit was in seasons, where to shop and what beaches to visit. She was informative and helpful. She arranged taxis to and from the airport and made sure our visit was comfortable and enjoyable. We so enjoyed chatting with her and learning more about her beautiful country. It was a delight to stay there.

excellent location, clean, friendly, peaceful
By MarjetaLjubljana (Ljubljana, Slovenia), May 2010
We have stayed here for the fifth time during a conference at the Interuniversity center in Dubrovnik. The location is superb, just five minutes walking to the Interuniversity center as well as the Old town. There are qiute a few stairs to climb though, so it is not suitable for those who have a problem with that.
The appartements are very clean, with well equipped kitcenettes.
The airconditioning can also be used for heating, which is useful - it can be very warm or quite cold in May!
The terrace is great for a nice self-prepared breakfast or relaxing surrounded by a beautiful Mediterranean garden.

What a perfect place to stay in Dubrovnik!
By chezsuzanne (Mill Valley, California, United States), May 2010
This was a wonderful place to stay while we were visiting Dubrovnik! This is a private home where the owner, Jadranka rents out a few apartments. It gives you a real sense of staying in the area with locals which was wonderful. It was just outside the old city walls, and easy to walk everywhere. We stayed in a cute small apartment that had a small kitchenette. It was very quiet and peaceful - we started each day with breakfast on the patio surrounded by gardens. Jadranka was a wonderful host and hooked us up with a great driver to take us a few places one day and recommended great restaurants and hidden places we might never have otherwise known about or found. We would definitely go back here!

Wonderful place to stay in Dubrovnik

We came to Dubrovnik at the end of a 5 week trip. Apartments Benussi was the perfect place to relax and recharge. The apartment is located a five minute walk from the Pile Gate which is the entrance to the old city. The location is very convenient to the old city but also provides a quiet haven that seems miles from the crowds of tourists. (NOTE: the walk from the Pile Gate is quite steep and includes steps. It would not be suitable for wheelchairs or people with difficulty walking. However, I use hiking poles to walk because of knee and hip pain and I found the walk strenuous but very doable. The apartment was well worth the walk up) There are two adjacent 1 bedroom apartments that share a large stone terrace. The garden has mandarin orange, lemon, almond and loquat trees - in May the mandarin trees were in bloom and the scent was amazing. The apartments have living/kitchen areas and bedrooms with double twin (King) beds. Everything is new and well constructed. The larger apartment also has a small private balcony. There are also two smaller rooms available on an upper level of the house.

This is an all pedestrian part of the city so there is no parking at the Apartments. However, there is a public parking deck a five minute walk up from the apartments.

The very best part of renting an apartment here is the owner, Jadranka Benussi. She is friendly, helpful and speaks excellent English - getting to know her was the highlight of our trip. We will be back!

Perfection in Dubrovnik
By cooper51 (lafayette, ca , United States), May 2009
My husband and I just retured from a two week trip to the Dalmatian Coast and by far, the highlight was meeting - and staying at the home of Jadranka and Milan Benussi.
Their home has been in the Benussi family for several generations and they have lovingly cared for it and added to it with pride. There are two rooms to rent (sleeps 2-3) that are within the house, and two apartments (sleeps 3-4) in a separate building on the property. The rooms share a patio with the Benussi's, the apartments below have their own. Both rooms and apartments have kitchenettes, perfect for storing milk for breakfast and cold beer for the afternoon. We stayed in Room 2, choosing the larger room because of the incredible, breathtaking view of the sea and Fort Lovrijenac. (The fort is also gorgeous at night.) Our bathroom was huge with a tub, hand-held shower head and bidet. The home, both inside and outside, was spotless.

The Benussi home is about 150 yards from the Pile Gate, a 5 minute walk. Be aware there are several steps - about 64 - but we were happy to do them. It's then easy to assuage one's guilt after having gelato at one of the many stands in the old town.

We actually stayed here for a week, intending to go on excursions to Mostar and Montenegro. We never made it....it was so pleasant on the patio with the heavily scented orange trees in blossum, or taking leisurely strolls around the city that we didn't feel like going. We did take day trips to Lokrum and Cavtat, and we highly recommend both.

Jadranka herself is delightful ...... warm, friendly and always eager to help with your plans. From the moment we met, I felt I was staying at the home of a very good friend. She is enormously proud of her heritage and her country, as well she should be. My husband and I both agree this was our best vacation ever, and we can't wait to go back. But only if we can stay with Jadranka and Milan Benussi.
